We went to the local rodeo last weekend and Trevor got the chance to do some mutton bustin'! Before the rodeo started there was a preliminary round where Trevor took first place, he rode the sheep all the way across the arena! He was then qualified for the finals (which were during the rodeo) where he just barely missed a trophy. The second time around he got one of the tiniest little sheep one that was way too small for him. I swear it looked about the size of a turkey! We got some fun pictures and enjoyed the rodeo.

The announcer was saying that the cowboys that do the bareback and bull riding actually have to pay to enter the rodeo and then if they don't stay on for the 8 seconds they don't get paid anything, they have to pay their own way to get to each rodeo and pay for their own hotel and food and then most of them walk away with nothing. Sheesh, tough gig.

The last bull rider's hand got stuck in the bull's harness, he was trampled (by a bull, not a horse I wish I had taken picture of the bull riders just to show their size)and taken away in an ambulance. It was awful to watch. He finally scrambled away and then collapsed. Everyone in the stands was gasping and the rodeo announcer just keeps talking like nothing was happening, talking about the next rodeo and such. It's not until I go to something like this that I remember that Zac's dad used to be a bull rider and do the exact same crazy thing! As I am sitting there watching these guys, imagining Grandpa riding a bull, all I could think was his poor, poor Mother! Come to find out, she couldn't even go to the rodeos to watch, I saw first hand exactly why! After the rodeo I told my kids they are NOT to grow up to be cowboys.

Zac and I were in charge of the family reunion this year so we planned a trip to the Estes Park and the YMCA and had we not had herds of wildlife right outside our cabins we probably would have ventured into RMNP. We love being in the mountains but more importantly we LOVE to be on vacation with family!

We went rollerskating with the whole family! Kate was so dang cute she just walked around the rollerskating rink with everyone and then would randomly stop and clasp her hands together and shake them from side to side, (her idea of dancing) and then she'd keep walking. Dax loves to roller skate but doesn't do any of the work he just holds your hands kicks back with his feet in front of him and enjoys the ride.

The kids that were old enough all did Archery in the RAIN!

This is a rock growing out of a tree, there's a whole monument dedicated to this in Wyoming, guess it's just cool enough for Colorado.

There were tons of rocks just behind our cabin that the kids spent countless hours climbing, and naming (the castle, the backbreaker, the rock of many pieces, the monkey's throne, scat island)

We had elk just outside our cabin for most of the trip.

We also went swimming, played mini golf, hiked, played in the river and did lots of adventure classes. Till next time.

Cake Smash

Our baby girl is a year old already. We all enjoyed watching her cake smash, first she started picking off the polka dots, then Zac helped her break into the cake and I'll just let the pictures tell the rest of the story. I love you my baby Kate! Happy Birthday! You are the most amazing addition to our family. You are a total DELIGHTl

8 is Great

Derek is now 8. We had a really nice baptism for him, Granddad, Nana, Grandpa, Grandma, Chalyse, Tracy, Shari, Kristie and their 8 year olds came as well as Carter who drove out with them. We had lots of ward friends come as well as one of his best friends Landon and the rest of the Kohler family. Dad gave the talk on Baptism and Granddad gave a nice talk on the Holy Ghost. We are so proud of Derek for choosing to be baptized!
